A Hello from our family!
We are The Schon Family and I am so very glad you are here! If you are reading this that probably means we have met at some point on our farming adventure, but incase we haven’t I will take a minute and introduce our family!
We are a family of five who love to laugh, go on “adventures”, and open our farm to kids for them to learn what farming is all about! My husband (Farmer Zach) and I (Miss Cassie) started our farm in 2009, with a Boer goat, named Bruce, and two donkey’s, Bernie and Bart, who were heard through the valley with their HEE-HAWS! {Those precious things were a mothers day gift from my dear husband, but that’s a story for another time}. From there we have added, 3 dogs, 3 kids and have probably seen over 150 animals through the doors of our barn! And here we are today, barn doors bursting with noise, hay, animals and kids and we wouldn’t have it any other way!
It takes a lot of hands to keep the farm going and we are VERY thankful for our three kids- Jacob, Kinsley and Westin. With what feels like a never ending list of chores, we all have to join forces to get things done. And the animals make more grumbling at chore time than the kids which is a blessing in itself!
Our farm has opened it doors every summer for the past 4 (this year will be 5!) years to something we call Farm Camp! Its a program for kiddos to come for the morning or afternoon and explore what “farming” is all about! We teach them animal care, where our food comes from and much more! Our farm has been growing each year with this by adding local school field trips, on site visits and expanding our farm camp! We have truly been blessed by this program and are so excited to see where it goes! We plan to add a few new things this year to our program, like an all day camp, and we cant wait to share it with you. Be sure to check out our event calendar to see what’s being added! Our hope is to have dates finalized and posted by March 1st!
